Bringing film to the Welsh Borders for over 40 years

Covid-19 and Presteigne Screen

You will have noticed that Covid-19 has meant there have been some changes to the way we operate: audience numbers are now more limited; face coverings must be worn while moving around the Assembly Rooms; a flow of fresh air comes from open windows and we all have had to sign in for Track & Trace.

Covid-19 shows no signs of receding in our area and in November the Welsh Government imposed a further restriction on cinemas. From 15th November, everyone will have to show a valid NHS COVID Pass, either on a phone or in printed form, or proof of a Negative PCR Test, or confirmation of a Negative Lateral Flow Test to gain entry to our cinema.

By law we will have to check that audience members meet these conditions. We anticipate that this may sometimes cause a slight bottleneck at the entrance and we ask for your understanding while we get used to implementing the new regulations.

The pass will only be a requirement for customers aged 18 and over

There will be no exemptions for people who are unable to be vaccinated for reasons of disability or underlying health conditions – they will be expected to provide proof of a recent negative PCR or lateral flow test.

Information about the Covid pass and how to get one can be found here:

People registered with NHS Wales need to print out a pass as the NHS phone app currently only works in England. For many it appears the pass is only valid for 48 hours, despite an area of the pass saying it expires in 30 days time. We suggest you create a pass within 48 hours of an event happening, ie, print a pass on Thursday if coming to a Friday film.

If you haven't already tried the system out we encourage you to have a go early. In our experience some have found it relatively easy to get registered using the NHS app whilst others have found it rather complicated.

We hope these hurdles won't put you off attending and look forward to seeing you at future films.

Presteigne Screen team

According to the Welsh government regulations (since August 2021) audience members must wear a mask while in cinemas and we are subject to that rule. Please bring a mask and be prepared to wear it while attending and moving around the building. Masks can be removed when seated.
